Hey Soul heads - wanted to share two amazing modern soul albums that have been on my stereo non stop all summer. As wonderful as I think these are they may be under the radar to most folks -- 1) Yazmin Lacey - Voice Notes and 2) Gabriels - Angels and Queens. These lps, IMHO, are the best of 2023 and really point to a great future of nourishing soul music. Yazmin comes out of the UK and is a "mature" artist blending soul/jazz and roots on her intoxicating debut album "Voice Notes". Gabriels is a US/UK hybrid band fronted by church-trained singer Mr. Jacob Lusk, a former American Idol runner up from 2012. Angels and Queens is their debut lp. Both albums are immaculately produced and fill with soul stirring music. Highly recommended.
