From what I recall, Sun changed their name to Dayton [[after their home city of Dayton, Ohio). Under that name, they hit with a remake of "Hot Fun In the Summertime".

    Best,

Shawn Sandridge and Chris Jones left Sun to do Dayton. Sun was still recording at the same time as Dayton.

    Cool

It's funny because i was playing my Sun albums last weekend and i was wondering how in the world wasn't this group more popular.

    They could deliver the funk..

    Sun - Conscience[[1977)

They could also do great ballads/love songs too...

Sun - When You Put Your Hand In Mine[[1978)

Around the late 90's Byron performed with Heatwave on a live-recording,
released on the independent label Century Vista.

Some other releases on Century Vista are a reissue of Ohio Players' 1984-album "Graduation",
and a Sun-compilation which actually is partly a reissue of Sun's 1984-album "Eclipse".

Back then around 1984 both those albums of the Ohio Players and Sun were released on another independent label, Air City Records.

Byron also produced a new funkgroup around the late-90's.
Forgot their name and album-title though ... "Legend" or "Legion"

Sheldon Reynolds is currently doing his own thing, and released a Jimi Hendrix-project some years ago. Guitarist Greg "G-Mo" Moore has been touring the
last few years with EW&F, and Sheldon was an active member until 2002, according to this link : http://www.earthwindandfire.com/bio_members.html

I last saw Sheldon at the PBS "Funky 70s Soul Superstars" show, which was taped in Dec 2004 in Dover, De.

Great thread & I loved "Wanna Make Love [[Come Flick My Bic)", "Reaction Satisfaction" aka. "Jam Y'all, Funk It Up" & the Sunburn LP, ESPECIALLY "Dance, Do What You Wanna Do". My partner & I used to run that one into the ground back in 1978!

They were the opening of the very first concert that I've attended. They opened
for Parliament/Funkadelic & Bootsy's Rubber Band. That was back in Fri. Aug 13, 1976 @ the Oakland Auditorium.
Gotta say, I had a funky good time
And btw, that's Roger Troutman on Wanna Make Love

    cozmic:

I was wrong. Sheldon participated in the Disco taping [[Disco Explosion - Get Down Tonight)at Asbury Park in August 2004. If you see the show, Sheldon is most visible dancing with Norma Jean Wright during The First Ladies performance of "Le' Freak".
