"Love Hangover" Diana Ross. Remix by Tom Moulton

Great remix of a disco classic. Love the bass notes in this tune and Diana's smooth vocals.

If I'm not mistaken, this mix was commissioned by Universal to be included as a digital, iTunes bonus track for the 2005 Motown Remixed compilation, but not used. It was released on The Tom Moulton Unreleased Mixes Volume 1 from 2020.

Doesn't matter who mixes it, I have always hated this song. Was a cheap disco, Donna Summer knock-off. I realize it was a big hit but when compared to the beauty of I Thought It Took A Little Time, which Motown yanked in preference to Hangover, it falls far short.

I love the slow sultry part of the long LP version orig...its the only way I enjoy hearing the song...I was never nuts about the single....too much going on in too short a time....

i think, at best, you can say this was influenced by Donna Summer. but that's about it. while it's never been a real favorite of mine, i can still see it's importance. for one, motown and diana had had little to no involvement in the disco scene. so this busted them in full on into that area. Diana had already become known for her lush, dreamy and sensual ballads [[TMITM, mahogany and others). but to mash the two together was quite uncommon. i don't believe it's the very first but certainly the first to be so massive and well known

I remember hearing this on the album for the first time. The transition of slow & sensuous to full-on dance/disco was startling and captivating. It remains one of my favorite Ross record and vocal performances. Yes, influenced by Summer/Moroder but just as unique and creative a disco masterpiece. I've liked the various versions/mixes, but the original album cut is still my favorite.

it was great to hear the unedited version. where you have all of diana's vocals included as opposed to how they edited back and forth on the released version between vocals and instrumentals

I would love to hear what a single mix of the slow part might have sounded like, as I've always been curious about if it would have still sounded like a hit. Like Gman, it's my favorite part of the song. For a long time it was the only part of the song I liked. The fast part has grown on me, but even still today a lot of times I move on to something else once the tempo kicks up. I just love the way it flows on the long version. I think it's nearly 3 minutes, so for a single edit it would have to have a bit more added to it.

I like the song's alternate title that was considered:

    GOOD MORNING HEADACHE
