Oddly, it was that change that finally got Bad Weather onto the chart after bubbling under it for weeks on end. Any single between those two bookends your talking about sales not radio airplay. Hence this is why a lot of them peaked better in Cash Box or Record World.
Would be interested in the source for this information ....never heard this before ...

Thanks, bradsupremes. That's a whole lot better than #28! Later that year, I was jumping up and down when Love Child hit #1. [It was an obvious #1 from first listen, though]. Ah, the memories of being a Supremes and Motown fan in the 60's.

On the pop charts, Forever Came Today went #13 Cashbox and #15 Record World. Some Things You Never Get Used To went #22 Cashbox and #21 Record World. Even if they had gotten that high in Billboard I'm sure Motown wouldn't have considered them a success for the Supremes. For some of the other Motown artists those numbers would have been pretty good!

This was the highest charting I've found for "Some Things." KISN survey chart for June 25, 1968. KISN served the Portland, Oregon area.

    Thank you Glenpwood!!

    BB SHEDS AIRPLAY FACTOR
IN TOP HALF OF HOT 100

NEW YORK-The top half of Billboard's Hot 100 chart
will no longer utilize the airplay ingredient it had been using in the
past because of the number of Top 40 format stations which have
changed the tabulating process of their printed playlists. This part of
the chart is now being tabulated solely from dealers' sales reports
from 21 markets across the country.
For the past several months, Top 40 stations have been leaning
toward a tighter printed playlist. Many records on their way up have
been dropped from station lists making room for stronger new
product, or because the station management decided the sound of the
disk was not what they desired for their audience, despite the fact
that there were sales in the market.
The bottom half of the "Hot 100" and the "Bubbling" chart still
involves the ingredients of dealer sales reports and the Top 40 sta-
tions' printed lists. In this area of the chart, the airplay reflection is re-
quired for the newer product to enable chart movement.
With this change, in the first 50 positions, the "star performer"
rating in that area is now based upon a 25 per cent increase in dealer
sales reports for the individual record from one week to the next.
Similarly, disks in the bottom half of the "Hot 100" chart must reflect
an across-the-board increase of 25 per cent in both dealer sales reports and Top 40 airplay combined.
Need to digest this. My first response is : how bizarre!!

what does everyone think about the proposed STYNGUT album?

    Side One:

Some Things You Never Get Used To
    Heaven Must Have Sent You
    He's My Sunny Boy
    Come On And See Me
    Can I Get A Witness
You've Been So Wonderful To Me

    Side two:
    My Guy
    It's Not Unusual
    Just A Little Misunderstanding
    Uptight [[Everything's Alright)
What Becomes Of The Broken Hearted
    Blowin' In The Wind

interesting, but too many Motown covers. If they were going to do cover songs, go outside the M. catalogue. Soooooo many awesome songs during that era on other labels. Good Lord, I would not even know where to begin.

I love most of the songs individually but as an album, it doesn't really hang together, IMO.

agree. it's a rather generic pop album with an inundation of covers. almost seems like they're eager to use up the A Go Go canned tracks, as if they're just looking for some reason to cover the studio costs of the recordings
