Good that they've got the funding but the star should include The Vandellas so either Martha and The Vandellas or Martha Reeves and The Vandellas should be on it. Just my opinion.

I tend to agree with you. Although Martha has represented Motown for so many years, I would believe that more folks identify her as a group member rather than as a solo artist. And yes, Lurlean, I do know that the other ladies were always her 'hired backup singers.'

Seems like a solid thoughtful fellow. Nice they had Martha's music softly playing as background throughout.

Too bad the price tag is so high, there's quite an effort involved so I don't blame them for not wanting to do it half-assed. Not only should Berry Gordy front the bill or at least a generous portion, but he should be there , if not presenting, at least be present. He has a lot to be grateful for because of exactly people like her. It's an opportunity to express that and those chances are quickly shrinking.

There's another star who owes her fortunes to the Motown machine, who preaches love and gratitude, that has close connections to a nice restaurant right there in Hollywood that would be a perfect place to host a reception.

The publicity alone would be worth the bother.

I met Chris at Martha's Detroit listening party a few months ago and he is a nice man who I truly feel has Martha's best interests at heart. Martha told me he was was a godsend, the best manager she's worked with for quite some time. I asked at that time if they had reached out to several of the Motown alums with more money than they know what to do with and they of course had, but nothing had come of it yet. Evidently that's still the case, which is pretty sad....... :[[

What a lovely and gracious man and real kind of him to explain how this all works to everyone. Im sure Marthas grateful to Mr Roe for getting the First Lady of Motown Records her well deserved star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. Thank you for sharing Lyrie.

I just watched the 10 minute presentation on the current status of Martha Reeve's Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. I learned something about his past experience in matters like this. He casually mentioned being involved in two previous Walk of Fame stars and he mentioned George Romero. Now one might wonder who George Romero is. He was the producer of Night of the Living Dead which is a long time movie that was shot in suburban Butler, PA. It is a classic movie. Has anyone else ever seen NOLD?
