In his pre-Motown period, we know that Berry Gordy Jr was involved in songwriting and production with many artists and labels.

Kudo a small mostly gospel label issued 3 Gordy productions -
Marv Johnson “My Baby-O”
Brain Holland “Shock”
Nancy Peters "Cry Baby Heart" [[co-written with Janie Bradford)

The Nancy Peters release on KUDO 664 was recorded with the band of Harold "Beans" Bowles and has vocal backing by The Falcons. It was released on June 2, 1958. Copyright to the song was registered on March 27, 1958.

Nancy was normally a ballad singer but tried her hand at Rock 'n' roll with "Cry, Baby Heart". In later years, Nancy married entertainment/news columnist and disc jockey, Bill Lane and it's Nancy's daughter Linda Lane who has posted this video to YouTube and provided more information there about Nancy's life. Nancy passed away on October 22, 2014

Linda has also posted other videos including a tribute to her mother and is no mean singer herself.
