Hey my temptaholics- blue could sing too!

It's kind of sad that the great[melvin franklin]is mainly remembered for two songs as a lead singer[ol man river- i truly truly believe] of course his leads were buried on albums, and that's the sad part because the great bass singer could bring it as he does on...i could never stop loving you..ways of a grown up man.. You're the one.. Do it easy, just to name a few of his cool leads....melvin forever!!

Yes Indeed! And while Melvin Franklin was rarely featured as a lead singer in The Temptations, his deep bass vocals gave the group their rich & distinctive sound. Here's an interlude featuring Melvin on his final LP with The Tempts, For Lovers Only to remember him by.

I would venture to say there's a parallel with Mike McCarty of Boyz II Men-then Motown powerhouse-act; another underrated bass vocalist/stylist like Blue/Melvin. Even down to their similar neurological diagnoses, forestalling and ending their careers.

His lead on TRY IT BABY is the first voice you hear on the Supremes/Temptations JOIN LP....Melvin and Ruth Pointer!!! that would have been a DEEP duet...
