    Question about the Beach Boys Special on TV

    I am sure some of you watched the special on TV tonight devoted to the Beach Boys. What was the instrument that the guy played during the Mumford & Sons song?

    It was a very tall wooden instrument and he stood behind it and blew into it.

    I missed the Beach Boys TV special but I found a clip of Mumford & Sons performance from the show on YouTube. According to comments that people had posted, it's a contrabass recorder. Wikipedia has information about the instrument on their site.

    I recently bought The Beach Boys greatest hits CD. WOW, nothing but incredible songs, melodies, vocals, and memories.

    They are one of my favorites. The 1988 Rock Hall Of Fame was, IMO, the best ever. Beatles, Beach Boys, Supremes and Berry Gordy, Jr.
