For Jobetrob and others: This is Adele

In another thread, jobetrob wanted to know who Adele is as she's ruling the charts this year. I think's she's one of the best pop singer/songwriters in the mainstream right now and has a nice soulful quality to her voice. She doesn't need autotune and her songwriting aims for more than teenybopper sentiments.

Rolling in the Deep [[her current huge hit): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rYEDA3JcQqw

    Chasing Pavements [[her breakthrough): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N-X6a_H5ro4

I downloaded her latest album the day it came out! And I'm so glad to see how successful it's been so far. "Rolling In the Deep" is one of he best songs I heard in years. Remains me a bit of the Four Tops' brilliant but unreleased "Stranded on the Road of Love" It also makes me think that maybe the quality of mainstream music isn't a lost cause after all.

I think this lady has the #1 CD of the year so far.

She, Taylor Swift, and Lady Gaga..........they are the popular ones this year.

This is catchy; fairly obvious why she is very popular.

I have to struggle not to stay trapped by Diana and Aretha.

Blame it on training by professional standards,

Once we see it in print, we are not allowed to think outside the box!

    HAHAHAHA

Here's a good article on Adele from the LA Times summing up why she's broken through on the pop scene in such a big way as she offers an alternative to the Gagas, Perrys and Rhiannas.

Another act that has broken through this year and continues to sell well week after week is Mumford and Sons, another band that stresses music over glitz, gimmicks, and autotune.

Adele just reclaimed #1 album on Billboard, knocking off Lady Gaga. And Rolling in the Deep is #1 Single.
