I saw an advertisement for the upcoming show. First statement about Martha Reeves states she is one of the biggest icons in music history. I do not disagree with her success with Martha & the Vandellas, but her as "one" is far fetched. She has virtually no success as a SINGLE artist as Diana Ross eventually did. In addition, the advertisement states that the Valadiers were Motown's first white recording group. That is totally false. If you refer to the "bible" The Complete Motown Singles. Volume 1, 59-61, it states about Ich-I-Bon #1 by Nick and the Jaguars that ". . . This single represents a milestone: Nick & the Jaguars were [U]the first white act[U] to appear on a Motown label. . . .
Well, it's your regular advertising "stretch of the truth"; it gets a little bit sad and melancholy to see some of this; for everyone one that really made it that are thousands stretching the truth.
It would probably be a little bit scary and disappointing to see this show; and on the other hand, maybe a lot of fun; hopefully, it's not taken too seriously at this stage.
It could be, and I think I read this somewhere, that the Valadiers were the first white band SIGNED to Motown, perhaps not the first to release product
The Valadiers were not a band. They were a vocal group.
I thought The Valdiers were mixed race?..Paulo xxx
The Valdiers were all white group.
