Wonderful group, so underrated. Glad that they got a couple of CD out.

Sisters Love were not your typical Motown girl group by any stretch, but they were vocally super-soulful. All 4 girls had stage presence and great harmonies -- especially lead singer Vermetta Royster whose performance commands close attention. Pity they didn't find success with Motown. They certainly deserved it.

I agree Philles. I think the girl group era had ended and Motown was trying to re-establish both the Jean Terrell Supremes and Martha and the Vandellas as hitmakers. There was just no budget for yet another girl group maybe.

Thankful to have seen them live in 1972 in support to The Jackson 5. Great show.

You may very well be right, Bayou. Motown's move from Detroit to LA had to have cost a small fortune, plus Berry was about to sink a huge fortune into Diana's "Lady Sings The Blues" project which took priority over everything else. As far as girl-group popularity goes, HDH's Honey Cone were still in fashion, so the Girl-Group Era hadn't totally died out yet. I think the problem with Sisters Love not catching on was due to the fact that Berry had bit off more than he could properly chew with the new MoWest label. It started out with a promising bang with Tom Clay's "What The World Needs Now Is Love" going Top 10, plus new releases from Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons, Lesley Gore, Thelma Houston, Celebration, etc. Unfortunately; despite a strong and promising start, Berry got so busy with the movie business, he let MoWest die on the vine. Along with it went the potential career of Sisters Love.
