The track is credited to Big Maybelle but the vocalist sounds nothing like her. On first listen, it sounds somewhat like a sped-up Goldie AKA Genya Ravan. Anyone recognise the singer on lead vocals?

The Charmers.

That's Genya Ravan...
The song is on the ACE comp Where The Girls Are Volume 2. The title there is Looking For Trouble. Correct, it's by The Charmers. Booklet says they were signed to Laurie just before the Chiffons and the song was released on the Pip label, national distribution by Scepter. It also says it was erroneously attributed to Big Maybelle due to a mix up on the tape box. There is no mention of the lead singer's name, but the character in the song is referred to as "Terri", so maybe that's a clue to her real name??
Oldies
The Charmers' single version uses a different vocal and, to my ears, a different vocalist.
The b-side, "After You Walk Me Home," certainly sounds like the Charmers who recorded for Laurie Records, with male vocal backing to a female lead.
