Hi Mystersinger, that was the very first concert I went to, it was at the Manchester Odeon on Oxford Road. Great night but was a little upset to find The 4 Tops had signed to ABC records. Thelma however had moved from ABC to Motown.

Yes that was a great show in Manchester 3rd November 1972. Still have my ticket and programme lol. 1972 was a good year for Motown concerts in Manchester and a week later it was The Jackson 5 at Belle Vue.

I went to the shows [[both of them) at the Odeon, Birmingham in '72. I met Thelma for the very first time there. She was walking down the street towards the theatre stage door with her green gown in a see-through bag over her arm. I gingerly walked across and said hello and she was lovely. Years later on the road with Scherrie's Supremes group I met her twice more. Her pipes are still amazing! Just recently [[2022) watched her show that was streamed from LA. Lovely lady.

She came across well on Unsung. Quite down to earth and open. Maybe not as many hits as some but Thelma does have many achievements and it's amazing the breadth of music she's covered. For my part I love Thelma's earlier work such as "Sunshower" but my favourite Motown track of hers will always be "No One's Gonna Be a Fool Forever" [[cue the "Diana did it best" brigade). You're so lucky to have met Thelma, Ivyfield.
