GK&TPs were actually the fifth act at Motown to record Everybody Needs Love. Mary Wells recorded the first version, followed by Jimmy Ruffin, then the Temptations and the Velvelettes recorded their version just weeks before GK&TPs did theirs. And it seems that GK didn't realize that all the acts recorded "hand me down" songs. It was not unusual for acts to record songs that other artists either had hits with or were album tracks. Not sure why she feels that it was only done to her group.
