Well, I was going to comment on your YouTube page but, their account changes have confused the hell outta me.
Anyway, funny video. Great tip for IDing those tracks, I'm stealing that one. Will drop over to CDBaby and pick me up some Smooth directly.
Chris,
You can't imagine the hoops I had to jump through to deal with my YouTube account. Since they merged with Google, things are all out of whack. I have talked to several people that have had issues. Please let me know what you think of the CD. I value your opinion.

Hey, Ralph! I wanted to hear everything you guys were talking about in the video. But I wanted to hear the music samples, too! For a minute, I thought I was hearing two videos playing in different tabs in my web browser. LOL
Hey, Chris,
I often have that problem myself. However, if you want to hear samples, go to CDBaby and click on Abraham Wilson Smooth.

I've listened to the songs, and I like them a lot. There's a lot of variety. The sound quality of the recording is very good. The arrangements and instrumentals remind me of the period from 1969-72. Many of the cuts sound something like Motown cuts from that period. Some of the singing sounds like the early to mid '70s style, except for a few ballads that sound like the late 70s/beginning of the '80s style.
I stopped listening to the radio in about 1968-70, so, I'm no expert on what people are listening to, and want to hear. I haven't liked much of the music I've heard that was made since the early '70s. But I like Smooth's cuts. The question is whether or not there's enough of a current market for it. I suspect that there is, but it will take some work to find it, and make it available to those people. I'm SURE that The Northern Soul crowd in England will like many of the cuts [[enough to want to buy the CDs). We should have some of our Brit members here to get promo copies to Northern Soul DJs.
Unfortunately, I have no contact anymore with any active DJs there. And, I have no idea how current music in USA gets played, and who is buying it. But there are both radio and Internet radio DJs on SDF that might be able to get the word out on these CDs, and maybe play the music on their shows [[?).
Robb,
I don't think we could find a better review than this. Like you, I quit listening to the radio a long time back and produce music that I like to listen to, win, lose or draw. Harry Balk recently told me that what we are offering is completely different than anything that is now out there and if I can find a market for it, we will do well. I have been in touch with Toby Walker of Soulwalking, thanks to Mike Willcocks, and he is asking for a copy of "Smooth" for review.
We spent a good deal of time on the audio quality [[Thanks to Russ) of the album as well as arrangements and over-all production, so your positive review tells me we have done our work properly. In all honesty, this method of promoting music is all new to me, since I'm completely "old school" and have always depended on a record label to sell the product. I think I'm learning a few things though and your review gives me the idea that I'm on the right track. Many thanks, Robb.
I will put the word out about Smooth's CDs on the couple of Northern Soul Forums in which I participate. That might get a little something started. Their are a few members of those forums that are also members here [[J. Smith, Chalky[[Hitsville Chalky), Bob A., Ady, Nixon, Mel, and some others). They might spread the word to a few more people.
Thank you, Robb. Very much appreciated.

Smooth and Ralph,
How many DJs have contacted you so far? I'm curious to know how the marketing is doing.
On one of the current Soul [[mostly Northern Soul) forums which I placed a promo thread, we got a bad revue. The guy originally thanked me [[in a post) for providing the link to the sound file snippets. He said they sound great. Later, he posted, saying that all cuts but two were poorly written and the sound quality wasn't good. He said that he had bought the CD, but when he heard the entire song, he found that he didn't like them [[only 2 songs of the 20 were to his liking). Another poater on the thread says that the people who like '80s Soul music would like it, but said it doesn't sound like late '60s and early '70s Soul, as I had described it in my original post. A few people on the thread and other threads that I had posted thanked me for making the post and introducing them to the double CD. But, no one posted that they had bought the CDs or that they liked the songs, or talked about which songs they liked. Heikki posted on a couple of those threads.
Robb,
I need to think on the DJ question, but I don't think it has been all that many.
As far as the poor reviews, it goes with the territory. I appreciate your interest.
Heikki has been a very appreciated supporter of the "Smooth'' CD.
