    The "Champagne Lady" has died

Read in my local paper today that Norma Zimmer, the vocalist that Lawrence Welk always referred to as the Champagne Lady on his show, has died. I know some of you would probably think as I did....how could anybody from that show still be alive, but the story said she was 87 and had enjoyed a relatively active life before she passed.

She was on the show from 1960-82, according to this article, which meant she was just in her mid 30s when she started, so I guess that is not so far-fetched.
