What a great performance! I think I remember seeing this performance in real-time. An odd selection of material for a medley - did the group have any chart presence with Phoenix? - but the group looks & sounds great, as always.
These were songs from their night club act. Given that Ed mentions the Copa in his intro, I gather they were promoting that appearance and giving the viewers a taste of what they might see when they saw the group in such a venue.
This clip also cuts off the first song, LET US ENTERTAIN YOU.

This is a nice, classy performance.
BTW, "By The Time I Get to Phoenix" has been recorded by LOTS of people [[including Stevie Wonder on a Live album)! I never realized it.

Aside from LET US ENTERTAIN YOU which was the original opening song of the medley, I don't think they did any other songs on this appearance. Not sure why the Sullivan folks cut it out this time, as it has been shown in the past.
Also, their version of BY THE TIME I GET TO PHOENIX can be found on their live album ALL IN A KNIGHT'S WORK. It is a mix of performances taken from the Copa and [[I believe) Leo's Casino. It is their only Motown album not to chart.
Re STOP AND GET A HOLD OF MYSELF, I was surprised that it was included. It is certainly one of my faves from their Maxx days but it wasn't a hit. Yet during this period, they performed it on Ed Sullivan, as well as David Frost and Mike Douglas.

I googled and this is what I came up with for the missing "Let Us Entertain You" opening portion of this medley. Apparently it was posted by The Ed Sullivan Show on their Facebook page in 2020--though maybe not on YouTube? Why they cut it off then or now is puzzling.
Anyway, here's the video if anyone is interested:

I am also surprised they did "Stop & Get Ahold of Myself" it was always one of my faves as I bought the 45 but it was not a big hit.
Let's be honest Gladys could sing the yellow pages and it would be amazing, have seen her live a couple of times now and she absolutely blows anyone else out of the ballpark she is so good. Although unreleased are getting sparse now I always try think of her when compiling a Cellarful.
