Ronnie has the trademark on the name "Ronettes". La La Brooks can bill herself as "formerly with the Crystals", but she
cannot actually have a "Crystals" group.

It's a long story on Shirley, but she can only bill herself as "formerly of the Shirelles".

Try booking a group of that name and then wait for the fireworks to start.

Just call me Jimmy Luke! I wonder why-or maybe I dont-why Motown has given Mary Wilson such a hard time per the name when Martha et al have theirs. Have they ever given at least a public explaination?

    Jimmy Luke!

In all honesty, it came across to me as though they tried to do what they could...within the scope of their remit. But as fans, our agenda is a little different from Motown and I am sure we would have liked more.

But at the end of the day, Mary has got through it all and survived...very successfully. There are a whole lot more people who have tried and been nowhere near as successful. Let's remind ourselves that Mary went to Russia this year. In the 60's, it was unheard of.

    boyfromxtown.....

...That's why I asked on a different thread about "The Drifters" and "The Platters". They're part of a package show with The Coasters. Don't know which Drifters and Platters, though.

Who owns "The Coasters", the Gardner family?
