There was an excellent package released in the UK that included both Poet albums as well as a Poet 3 disc which as i recall contained bonus material from the original sessions. I think i have it somewhere in my loft. It was a great value pàckage.
However, if you did not obtain that collection these releases will be most welcome for you.

I think it was Charley that issued a nice batch of Womack 2-/3-fers. I did manage to snare some of those but the Poet set escaped me.

Was the album always called the Poet III elsewhere? I know I have this album under the name "Someday We'll All Be Free" here in the US.

    sidebar:

I love the story of how Patti Labelle was released [[dropped) by the PI label and then the chart and radio success of "The Best Is Yet To Come" and "Love Has Finally Come At Last" as well as "If You Only Knew" made her a hot property without a record deal.

Bobby Womack was one of my mother's favorites. I always think of her when I hear his music.

Guy, I did not know that about Patti. I alway thought because of those songs that is how she got her PI deal. That's interesting.

That is great you think of your Mom when you hear his music! Wish I knew my Mom's favorites. Now I feel like a bad son.

Yep! Those back-to-back hits made Patti a hot property untethered to a record label and she got snatched up by MCA Records -- a huge label building its R&B/Soul/Urban music division -- for a "real money" deal. Those hits from the 'Beverly Hills Cop' soundtrack "New Attitude" and "Stir It Up" followed. Then she got her first solo No. 1 pop hit [["On My Own") and her only No.1 album [[ "Winner In You"). Patti became Queen of the World for a few shining moments -- film, TV and sellout shows. I would say she made most of her net worth during that period and it was sweeter because she had to work hard, with little for decades to get to that point. A real Cinderella story.

Luciano, my mother's BW favorite was "Daylight." I always feel a twinge of nostalgia when I hear that or "Woman's Gotta Have It", "Across 110th Street" or "If You Think You're Lonely Now." I inherited my love of music from my parents. I wouldn't know anything that came out before 1980 if not for them.
