Cool Memory Problems ? Take A Dose of Vinyl and Call Me In The Morning !

With the fast approaching National Record Store Day [[April 16) I decided to celebrate early by playing a host of records from my vinyl collection that certainly made my day. Included but not limited to the following gems:

    Cutie Pie/One Way
Rufus Live/ Rufus & Chaka Khan
    Moods of Marvin Gaye
    Ask Rufus/Rufus & Chaka
    Heavy/Stylistics
Intruders Super Hits [[wow talk about memory revitalization)
    Color her Sunshine/Willie Hutch
    Love Breeze/Smokey Robinson [[Madame X)
    Tempts Sing Smokey
    Pick of Litter/Spinners
Got To Find a Way/Curtis Mayfield
    Portrait of Originals/Originals
Time Out/Smokey & Miracles [[Doggone Right)
To Know You Is To Love You/BB King
    Turn me Up/Keith Barrow
    Showtime/Slave [[SnapShot)
    Injoy/Barkays [[Move Your Boogie Body)
    Concert In Blues/Willie Hutch
Hot On Tracks/Commodores [[ Girl I Think The World About You)
Times have Changed/Impressions [[This Loves For Real)
Live /Betty Wright [[ Lovin is Really My Game)
    David Ruffin/In My Stride

Now my Doctor told me to go easy on the administration of heavy soul because I might need intervention, but after consuming all that soul, I actually felt better and remembered things I thought I forgot. Talk about a glorious day ! And yes I cheated a little bit, I didn't play all the songs on every album, you vinyl purists will understand how you get caught up in the moment and one record will undoubtedly lead to another......yet you promise yourself that you'll come back to the album you just took off......but it never happens.......but like James Brown said ..."I Feel Good".....

PS: for you audiophiles out there, your recent posts about sound and compression really makes me appreciate the fact that I still play vinyl and once I crank the bad boy up, theres nothing that sounds remotely like the classics' in their purist form. Yes its inconvenient and time consuming but I had a ball. Sure I'm a dinosuar, but I'm a T Rex baby.........if you dont know you better ask somebody !

Love your vinyl selections and collection. Just listening to some One Way on YouTube yesterday, always liked that underrated group. Props to all the other LP's, too, great stuff.

I've been dusting down some 45's recently such as,

Out Of The Blue [Can You Feel It] - Gap Band
You're The Song [That I Can't Stop Singing] - Thelma Jones
Are You Lonely Tonight - Jerry Butler
God Only Knows - Betty Everett
The Best Girl I Ever Had - Gene Dozier & The United Front
You Made Me Anybody's Woman - Jean Elias
You Hurt Me For The Last Time - Inez Foxx
Can't Believe That You Love - Bunny Sigler
Rode By The Place [Where We Used To Play] - David Ruffin
Don't Fight It - Wilson Pickett
Don't Mess With Cupid - Otis Redding
    Nylon Stockings - Drifters

sadly on Saturday instead of going to my local record store, I'm having to accompany my wife to a flower show, hmmm that should be fun, I think this calls for "Give & Take" - Jimmy Cliff.

Mr Soul I found a rare 45 that I'm giving to another member on this forum. All I can say is that its by a lesser known group, that was once part of a well known group, who remain popular to this day. To be honest I found two in mint condition and the person that offered them to me had no idea what he had or who the group was. I paid about as much for them as a ride on the CTA.

Although I buy mainly CD's these days, I've never stopped buying vinyl as long as it's cheap & in very good condition, I bought the following albums last weekend for 50 pence each:

    O'Jays in Philadelphia
It's All Platinum - Various Artists
Be What You Are - Staple Singers
You Don't Stand A Chance If You Can't Dance - Jimmy James & The Vagabonds
    Greatest Hits - Bobby Womack
British Motown Chartbusters - Various Artists
