Supremes Greatest Hits That Someone Got A Hold Of First

The premise of this discussion is that the Supremes recorded a number of songs that are more closely associated- often big hits- with other artists. If you had to compile a greatest hits album of these songs, songs that you believe had the Supremes' version been released first would've been a hit, which songs would they be? A 12 track or 20 track album if you can fill it. And of course any incarnation of the group can be included.

These are just my faves, not necessarily the final sequence.

    1) Whisper You Love Me Boy
    2) Shake Me, Wake Me
    3) Baby, I Need Your Loving
    4) I'll Turn to Stone
    5) Heaven Must Have Sent You
    6) Stay in My Lonely Arms
    7) You Ain't Livin' Till You're Lovin'
    8) Hey Western Union Man
    9) What Becomes of the Brokehearted
    10) Stormy
    11) Till Johnny Comes
    12) The Beginning of the End

    With the Tempts:
    Sweet Inspiration
    A Place in the Sun
    Stubborn Kind of Fellow

I don't think of any of these necessarily would have been a big hit or a hit at all. But I enjoy these versions just as much as the original versions.

    As good as the originals:
    Get Ready
    Shake Me Wake Me
    This Old Heart Of Mine
Does Your Mama Know About Me

Not as good as the originals but could have been moderate hits by DRATS:
    What Becomes Of The Brokenhearted
I Guess I'll Always Love You
Love Makes Me Do Foolish Things
Too Hurt To Cry, Too Much In Love To say Goodbye

I pretty much agree with you on this list. I would add Put Yourself in My Place and I Guess I'll Always Love You [[both of which I learned to really like with the Expanded Editions. Thanks, George & Co!)
I would say I prefer all of these to the originals.

I didn't know Till Johnny Comes and Beginning of the End were remakes.

Not a big fan of the duets but I really like their versions of Try It Baby and This Guy's In Love With You.
