Thanks for posting Marvin. Def soft, sultry and smooth.
October 2019. I was at this show, it was really good. She did an amazing tribute song to Nancy Wilson - I'm hoping this uploader has that video too.
Yes, she did Stoned Love and River Deep, Mountain High.
It was a great show. There are other clips on that YouTube page, as well as here - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCz6...tHAl50BuZMksXA
She stole this song from Norah Jones, a far, far superior talent.
This is a great song from Norah Jones, one of my faves. This is my favorite Mary cover. Her voice is a perfect match for this song.
Yes it was in Richmond Hill - just north of Toronto.
I’ve seen Mary sing this a couple of times but I think this is the song she always says she doesn’t understand what it means !i wish she’d find out!
ANMHE and WDFFIL by Diana Ross were MONSTER hits that outsold the respective original artists’ versions by millions. As for Mary, I prefer her doing covers like this and “Fields of Gold” over botched attempts at singing lead on Supremes songs she never sang leads on to begin with!
She sounds fantastic. Her voice seems so much at home on a song like this. Funny way to end the song. Mary is definitely one of the legends whose voice just gets better with age. Very few of her peers sound as good, Supreme peers included.
LOVE that Norah - here's how it's done -
Here's another superb cut from Norah. A superb talent!
Absolutely. Mary has to be loving her singing life these days. While she may never be able to put as many folks in the seats as Diana can, to know that when she opens her mouth she sounds even better than she did 40, 50, 60 years ago...that has to feel good. Especially considering how it has to suck for many of her peers- Supremes included- who no longer possess the abilities they did back in the day. It's frustrating to not be able to do anything one could do when younger of course. I wonder what Mary has done- or not done- to keep her voice in such great shape.
She has said she continues to take voice lessons, recently with her female back up singer.
