Boogie, back in the 1960s, when I was growing up in western NY state, there was an AM radio station in Newark, NY [[nowhere near where I lived, and I forget their call letters). I don't think we were even able to receive their signal, yet, every week, they would publish a list of that week's top 50 [[or top 100) records for the week including new releases entering their chart for that week. It was printed on long, legal-size paper, and was on a different light-colored pastel each week to differentiate it from the previous week's list. It was a super-cool service they provided, and their radio station would drop off a pile of copies at certain local record stores in my area. I'm not sure whether radio stations in other cities were providing the same promotional service, but for record-buying fans like us, it was right up our alley. I used to make it a point to pick up a new copy whenever possible. Did any of your local AM radio stations have a public service list like this back in the day?
