Why the same old songs that are available on just about every compilation? Motown had plenty of great dance tunes that could have been used. I will buy the set for the Reuben Howell "You Made Your Bed".
I'd give it a chance, for Finis Henderson. Yes, his album's been reissued on Japan quite a few times, but they just as rapidly become expensive, due to each being out of limited print.
But, agreed, on 75% of them being "Same Old Songs".
Agreed. that even if it's for a specialty dance aficionado crowd, the collection still plays it too "safe" under the "security" of the same iconic big names - Diana Ross, Jackson Five, Temptations, Smokey Robinson.
At the very least, could had halved the Diana Ross, Jackson Five, Eddie Kendricks tracks to one rather than two, for maybe Tata Vega, Dazz Band, and Michael Lovesmith.

I knew this set was good
Had email confirming it has been shipped today. Hopefully no duties to pay and have it next week then.
It's official :
https://www.amazon.co.jp/MOTOWN-DISC...9422223&sr=1-2
This set contains for the first time on CD the single version of "Forever Came Today" [[3'26" - cd 2 track 1) and the single version of "Let Yourself Go" [[ 3'17" - cd 2 track 10)!!!
Used the link above and had my Chrome browser translate the page. There's some interesting song titles in those translations!High Energy - Suda Gone Dunsin, Teena Marie - I Need Your Lavin & I'm A Soccer For Your Love. Skip To My Lou is listed as Summer Skip.
Ordered from Amazon JPN on friday, shipped on saturday and received today tuesday in big DHL package in Amsterdam
CD 1 runs for 86 minutes! CD 2 70 minutes.
No, seperate tracks.
I once recorded tracks on a recordable cd of 90 minutes.
Boy, that's news to me, too, Jack. Like Danno, I, too, had always heard [[or read) that 80 minutes was the max recording time on CDs. How on earth did you manage to squeeze in 90 minutes? I would imagine it would be impossible for some CD players to read a disc that full.
I tend to copy my cds for playing in the car. Nowadays, I rip to mp3 but I'm going to try and copy the 86 min disc as a cd. I've used Nero in the past which offers over burn but only by a minute or so. 90 mins ? Takes me back to the old C90 cassette. We thought chrome tape was state of the art😂
Hey Gary, I just added tracks up to around 90 minutes on that recordable cd and my cdplayer does not have a problem with it.
Hey Danno, you also had metal cassettes, I think Maxwell
I think it was about 1981 when I bought a TDK metal cassette. I thought I'd give it a try to compare quality. I was on an apprentice's wage at the time and the tape cost me £5 . If I spent the same percentage of my current weekly wage, you'd be talking over £60!!! I never bought another one and compromised with chrome once I discovered multi-packs were much cheaper.
At the time, UK vinyl tended to have a logo on the inner sleeve. It was in the form of a skull and crossbones in the shape of a cassette shell. "Home taping is killing music, and it's illegal". I have to smile at that now, when you consider the technology we have at our disposal today.
What version of Let Yourself Go is it? that track listing says "edit"
what is the duration of the song?
thanks!! that's approximately the duration of the original 7" single version which hasn't been release digitally. there's also the version from the cassette release of Greatest Hits & Rare Classics with has a different single version. i'm not sure if that was edited that way in the 90s by George and team when they did GHRC or if it was an alternative single version from the 70s.
this is one of my fav dance tracks of all time. wish there had been other mixes of it back in the day. like a true 12" version
So three weeks on and mine got here at last. Also got stung for duty so it ended up costing thirty something pounds. Will consider Amazon etc next time. Well impressed with sound on disc one. The 86 minutes hasn't affected quality. I probably could've swerved Teena M's remix version. Shame there was never a longer mix of skip to my lou which sounded sublime on this. Disc two tomorrow. Apart from the cost, happy with the cd
Except fot slight differences in the mix , Scratchin [[ Magic Disco Machine ) and You Made Your Bed [[ Ruben Howell ) are the same track !!!
