"This collection comprises over 70 minutes of soul, R&B, funk and jazz gems recorded by Etta for Chess Records in Chicago, Nashville, Muscle Shoals, Hollywood and New Jersey between 1960 and 1976.

With an artist of her stature one might expect all of her Chess material to be available on compact disc by now, but that's not the case. For each of her LPs for the company that exists on CD, there is an equally good one not available in its entirety. The same applies to her B-sides, many of which have never been released on album, let alone CD. There are other compilations of Etta's Chess recordings to be had, but most contain the same familiar titles. Who's Blue offers something different, with 19 out of 24 tracks making their CD debut. Compilation and notes by Mick Patrick. "

    That sounds interesting !

Yes, much of that is rare, but most titles were issued. I had "Look Who's Blue" on a 45rpm and the great "Seven Day Fool",
written by Berry Gordy & company, was a great "a" side that rarely gets included on her CD packages.

I ordered Doris Troy too. I checked out Swamp Dogg. But I don't know about that one. I like Swamp Dogg when he's interpreted by others.

    Song #7 - You're The Fool

    Hey,

Just wanted to say that I wrote "You're The Fool". Etta recorded it while being produced by Don Davis. He also recorded it on Mavis Staples and The Three Degrees.

Sharon, I've always loved that song, great job. Have any of your other songs been recorded and released? By the way the track 'Can't Shake It' on Etta's CD is a previously unissed 1964 recording. "Who's Blue?" is a fine collection of great songs, much props to Mick Patrick and Ace Records.

Who's Blue is a winner. Much of it is new to CD. I do wish that they did like for like 2-fers of the albums that have yet to be issued, though.

When did Etta and Harvey record OLD FASHIONED LOVE AFFAIR? It sounds like maybe the late 80s or 90s. I don't recall hearing it on any of her recent cds, but it is a very good song.

Just a note: Etta is not in the video, aside from the old photos shown.

2000 release on Harvey's own T.V.O.X. [[The Voice Of Experience) label Note the duet with Smokey - Harvey also recorded complete album with Etta, never released.
