Have you ever seen Thelma live? I saw her recently [[last November) in London. That gal can boogie with the rest of them and what a voice.......

    Wonderful entertainer.

If you get the opportunity to see Thelma live, take it.

Hi boyfromxtown....Yes I have seen Thelma live. Many moons ago saw her at the Fridge in Brixton, London AND got to meet with her in her dressing room. Spent about an hour with her, got a lovely signed glossy black and white, which I got framed, and have hanging in the hallway, with my 2 signed from Miss Ross, who was a delight also. Thelma was an absolute delightful, gracious host. She put on one HELL of a show. Ah, the memories....Paulo XXX

I thought it would be some news that her MoWest LP was being released. Oh well.

But I'm glad I checked-in to this thread, I'll definitely be getting the Eloise Laws CD.

John-Can you believe I knew you before young Carlo was even thought of, let alone born! He's even later than "Upside Down", don't that really make you feel old

Paulo...I thought you were in Canada, so what are you doing over my part of the world. I used to work at Clone Zone and we supplied the Fridge with their you-know-whats! When was Thelma at the Fridge, I dont remember that? Mind you, I dont go there any more. Last time I went was when I saw the Vandellas and met them backstage.

    John,
I noticed. But as it and the Thelma Houston releases were lumped together, I wasn't sure how to separate them for 2 individual posts.
I just knew that people would catch on, as Eloise's album is pictured.

I am considering your response carefully....I think I might have to report you under the "SDF failure to notify an important release" rules.

Penalties are severe.....could be as bad as listening to a complete album by a rock group !!

    I'm kidding. *smile*

Which shop did I work at! You must be joking. I stopped pulling punters in way before you were born! I was the company accountant until 2007. We also had a shop in Brighton too in St James' Street near the Bulldog.

Spill the beans..I don't think so!!! LOL What did you say was the first song you knew...I'm The Greatest Star! Even Lily Savage couldn't compete with that!

I like the way you added for Thelma....the remix days! You are cheeky! HAHA

I'm hoping that Thelma's 1972 Mowest album will get released on CD sometime in the near future. Has it been released before on CD?

Of course, the Thelma Houston Mowest album release on CD MUST cover the UK release which contained more great tracks - http://www.flickr.com/photos/cookeph...hy/4543297622/

Saw Thelma live in 1972, touring with the 4 Tops [[and again last year with the Motown Divas). Long shot - but as I can't remember fully, does anyone have a song list from the 1972 shows please?

I've always loved the US release of Thelma's MoWest album but the UK release looks awesome. WOW!

The CD release better include both versions.

I can't believe I've missed out on that UK album all these years. John Lester you have some 'splaining to do!

  33. #33
It's not a UK release. It a USA release. From Funkytowngrooves USA.

What do you mean by "The CD release better include both versions"?

It's two albums on one CD. http://www.dustygroove.com/item.php?...&anchor=530594

Thelma Houston is another really great singer - who never got the acclaim she deserves. She still delivers a great show, full of emotion and energy - and what a powerful voice!!!
