A few weeks ago I posted a thread because I had just discovered for the first time the interesting 2 CD set entitled The Greatest. I had not previously even noticed it, although it is several years old.
So I compared prices, bought it and just tonight finished playing it through for the first time. It is a very interesting mixture and contained a few things I had not heard before and some others that I found myself appreciating more than I had previously.
For example, I loved hearing Surrender again after such a long time and I also could not believe how much I enjoyed hearing Doobedoodoo, etc.
But the real pleasant and total surprise to me was the duet with Ray Charles entitled Big Bad Love. I had never even heard OF it, much less heard it and I thought it was great.
At the time it came on, I had just popped the CD in the player and did not even know who she was singing with. But it had a swamp boogie feel to it, and even though I knew it COULDNT be, I thought I was listening to somebody like Lonnie Brooks dueting with her.
At any rate, a super collection that made me appreciate Diana all over again. I highly recommend it.
