That's the stereo mix that sometimes appears on soul compilations in the UK.
The mono single mix has a different first verse.
Try this.

This track has Invictus/Hot Wax production values all over it. The sound was very distinctive in terms of arrangements and musicianship.

It shares some melody and chord changes with “Mind, Body And Soul”. That track has some seriously bad French in it. 😊
One of my favourite Hot Wax recordings.
Here's the version with the long instrumental break.

I always like that song and some others by The Flaming Ember.
I like them too. I bought a comp on them not too long ago and was surprised how many of the tunes I remembered.
Are they the same group "Flaming Embers" who sang 'Hey Mama - What You Got Good for Daddy" which was on Ric-Tic which i believe is also a Detroit label?
This sounds like a question that Ralph could answer.
Definitely the same group with Jerry Plunk on lead vocals.
Perfect song for the Tops.
Now this was my favorite song by Flaming Ember. I think I was like in the 5th Grade or something LOL!
