The Queen of the Powerhouse Vocal after 55 years in the business...
From 1978, one of my favorites of Patti's "Teach Me Tonight [[Me Gusta Tu Baile)" She was on fire!
Funny you should bring up '70s solo Patti:
Seriously the debut is a masterpiece!
Patti Labelle is the best hands down
I love.Music is my life
I'm n love again
Isn't it a shame
when you talk about love. Patti Patti!!
If only you knew is probably my favorite solo Patti tune, and the album it came from is pretty strong too, but my favorite Patti solo album is probably "Burnin'". It was such a strong album that demands repeated listens. "on my own" is probably my favorite duet record of all time.I get goosebumps whenever i hear it.
^ Burnin' is my favorite PL album too. She was ON FIRE that period [[1991-92). Won her first Grammy for the album. Got all the big press. When most legends her age hit their peak, Patti was still rising. Loved that era.
And yeah If Only You Knew was the greatest song she ever recorded. That deserves to be on the all-time greatest songs lists.
This compilation is chock full of amazing rarities! Thanks, midnightman!
BTW, does anyone know what the moment @ 6:13 is from?
It was from a PBS American Playhouse production of "WORKING."
This was probably here last jam JAM!
IDK about FLAO being her "last" jam:
^ CERTAIN folks can. It took its beat from Love & Happiness! WHO COULDN'T dance to it? Not everything has to be fast lol
Anyway, here's her performance of If Only You Knew at the second annual Black Gold Awards in March of 1984:
