Jimmy Ruffin was one of the main reasons for me getting into Motown. I was lucky enough to get to know him quite well when he lived in the UK. I have many personal favorites such as "farewell is a lonely sound" and "i'll say forever my love" but i would have to go with "what becomes of the broken hearted" which just may be my all time favorite Motown tune. It still gives me goosebumps whenever i hear it.

Surely What Becomes Of The Broken Hearted is one of his best [[in my opinion even one of Motowns best) but the B-side of the single, "Baby I've Got It" is one of my favourites.

The Funk Brothers, The Andantes and Jimmy himself delivering one of Motowns best northern soul recordings.

I just love to listen to that song loudly :-D

Hey jakaa, great question... but I can't limit it to one!!! So here are some of mine that haven't already been mentioned...
"Gonna Give Her All The Love I've Got"
"Gonna Keep On Tryin' Till I Win Your Love"
"Don't Let Him Take Your Love From Me"
"Don't You Miss Me A Little Baby"
    "Everybody Needs Love"

    and some post-Motown ones!!!
    "Tell Me What You Want"
    "Falling In Love With You"
    "Hold On [[To My Love)"

"What Becomes Of Brokenhearted" is good [[and a classic) but not one of my favourites

Also, I believe it was The Tempts that turned down Jimmy in favour of David! What a choice to make

What Becomes of the Broken Hearted
    I've Passed This Way Before

As Long As There Is L-O-V-E. That is a very underrated Smokey Robinson production. James Jamerson's bass line is also noteworthy in his ability to interpret Smokey's ideas as only a master could. Even though Jimmy had to convince Smoke to create this tune it is indeed my favorite.

I imagine Brokenhearted got the vast majority of us turned on to Jimmy. That was a great song, Baby I've Got it was a super B side, and the entire album was great. But another song of his that I always found to be quite catchy was "Sad and Lonesome Feeling."

Besides the obvious "Brokenhearted", I'm going for the very under-rated "Maria [[You Were the Only One)".

Boy From Mississippi is a personal favourite. In addition to being a fine record, it is noteworthy because it is autobiographical, composed by Jimmy and depicts his move from Mississippi where the family were indeed sharecroppers, his spell in the army, and his views on prejudice irrespective of geographical location. A very intelligent composition.

Shake Hands With A Dreamer. A great drum intro and classic Dean-Witherspoon production.

Great choice. Why this didn't get released at the time beats me.
