Major New Black American Author Jesmyn Ward on PBS Newshour

This is a really nice piece on this already accomplished young(ish!) author Jesmyn Ward. 'Salvage the Bones' was extraordinary and I look forward to the new novel 'Sing, Unburied, Sing'. Quite a lady.

Interesting. My wife watches PBS Newshour so I'll keep an eye out for her.

Yes, Salvage the Bones was indeed outstanding. Thanks for the heads-up, PNH.

I actually have this new Jesmyn novel which a doll of a friend gave me
recently. I haven't begun to read it yet because I'm finishing up Krystal
    A. Sital's Secrets We Kept and had planned to read Mr Fox next. It's
so good to have these fresher young authors creating new work of
substance today. For a long time I feared we were going to be smothered by "urban lit"...Ah, I'll be nice.........

Jesmyn Ward has won the National Book Award for fiction - congratulations, lady. Well deserved.
