The female host," dat, dat, dat, dat......." Then she had nerve to persist in asking about it. Some are just not professional or possess any common sense.
Dionne was very polite and professional about it, whereas some others would have said "look lady, I'm out of here"! That host needs to be spoken to by her company.

Dionne was very direct. Kind of refreshing. And apparently she had already made it clear not to bring it up!

So as you can see from these sample clips of how celebrities handle bad interviews, Dionne Warwick's response and actions were exemplary!
Nicely done Dionne.
A gentle but firm Trump-smacking of the press to keep them in line , and to remind them as to why you're there and what the interview is to be about !
I think reporters have the right to ask any question unless it is stipulated before hand what not to ask.
When Michael was on trial, an interviewer asked Diana what she thought about it. She said she has not seen or talked to Michael for a very long time. That ended that question.
Aretha was once asked about a front-age Madonna controversy. Aretha said she knows nothing about what Madonna said. That ended that question.
In another interview that was posted, Mary Wilson was asked about Beyonce. She answered it. omg

From what I have read it can go both ways as certain artists have asked for what questions will be asked prior to so they can veto what they want.
I have also read/seen where some artists prefer to talk about their work and not their private lives. In this case that's what it sounds like Dionne was there for.
Maybe Dionne didnt want to answer any questions about Whitney it case it lead to Aretha being real upset with her. Aretha clearly doesnt like Dionne Warwick.

That's a LOT of info, Ms. Roberta! Thanks. I do love Aretxxx I mean MISS Franklin but I do think she needs to get out of the house more often ! It's quite sad to me that a person of her age, accomplishment, and stature is so frequently obsessed with these manufactured tiffs. Unlike, say, Diana Ross, Franklin does not seem to have a real and loving family to fill her time and fulfill her life.
It's all pretty silly. Aretha has seemed to move on. I have never seen or heard anything about Aretha not having a good family. Geeez And many performers like to keep their family life private and not all over the media.

You did a great job researching your posts Robert. John Cluckie wrote today on Dionne's interview that Dionne didn't want to answer questions about Whitney in case it would lead to Aretha being real upset with her. I will post it in that other forum you are a member of.
Hey Stumpf...Let up.
It would be nice if Roberta let up . Some of us have to read her negative and divisive posts when people quote her. Wish ignore button worked there too!

Ms. Warwick was within her right to shut down the question in the manner that she did. The female host's persistence was rude. Considering the fact that Whitney was first and foremost a close family member of Dionne's, her emotional reaction and request for privacy is not surprising. They are lucky that she responded in the manner that she did and then carried on with the interview without any evidence of resentment. It sounds like the hosts had been asked not to discuss Whitney via Dionne's management, but they went there anyway.
Ooof, that was kinda awkward.
I have always quite liked Ben Sheppard and Susanna Reid. I don't think they meant to offend Dionne.
