I remember the Temptations' singles during the late nineties. When I first heard "Stay", from the sampling of their own "My Girl", the Temptations-styled harmonies, to Ron Tyson's Temptations-classed falsetto, I guessedly joked "Temptations?", before the contemporary soul station did say "Temptations", then my eyes bulged.

While "Stay" still continues to maintain regular enough rotation to some contemporary soul stations even today, as well as it being included in Temptations Collections as its "They're Still Around" representative, then it was followed up with "This Is My Promise". I forgot if it was led by Theo Peoples or Terry Weeks, but I absolutely fell in love with its toasting serenade, and pure class of appreciation towards the lady in which the subject of serenading.

"Stay" stayed continuing in rotation, but "This Is My Promise" for the most part, remained in 1998/1999.
