The Monitors - " Say You"

This was a great track by the Monitors from 1965 with Richard Street on lead. Check it out:

The whole album is a winner, even the cover is a nice one.Not cheap/anonymous like the poor Elgins'one !

I just saw on DFTMC that their album was to be released on VIP.

The Monitors; recorded Hitsville, completed 21-Jul-65 ; produced by Robert Staunton, Robert Walker ; [2nd odb]

    [unreleased]; LP [[S): V.I.P. 401 Greetings ... We're The Monitors

I love it too. I first heard it on the UK-issue New Faces From Hitsville EP which I had a secondhand copy of. I did not hear the Tempts' version until I bought the Gettin' Ready long-player [[which has the same backing track).

Sometimes I wonder that if Motown did not employ the practice of having multiple artists record the same songs, would groups like the Monitors become bigger?

I got The Monitor's Motown/Soul album for Christmas upon its original release back in 1968 or 1969. Loved it from the start, as I knew I would. After all, it was Motown!

I bought this album used, but in excellent condition back in the mid-80s.

They were orinally called The Majestics but changed their name after it was discovered that a California band had already recorded using that name.

The Monitors were an excellent and vastly underrated soul group, but I don't know who is who?

I know that Richard Street is on the far right and Saundra Fagin [[as the only woman and thus by process of elimination ) is next to him. Who is John "Maurice" Fagin and who is Warren Harris?

Also, were Saundra and Maurice Fagin related or married? [[Or both? )
