The whole album is a winner, even the cover is a nice one.Not cheap/anonymous like the poor Elgins'one !
I just saw on DFTMC that their album was to be released on VIP.
The Monitors; recorded Hitsville, completed 21-Jul-65 ; produced by Robert Staunton, Robert Walker ; [2nd odb]
[unreleased]; LP [[S): V.I.P. 401 Greetings ... We're The Monitors
Sometimes I wonder that if Motown did not employ the practice of having multiple artists record the same songs, would groups like the Monitors become bigger?
Also one of the coolest group names ever.
I got The Monitor's Motown/Soul album for Christmas upon its original release back in 1968 or 1969. Loved it from the start, as I knew I would. After all, it was Motown!
They were orinally called The Majestics but changed their name after it was discovered that a California band had already recorded using that name.
The Monitors were an excellent and vastly underrated soul group, but I don't know who is who?
I know that Richard Street is on the far right and Saundra Fagin [[as the only woman and thus by process of elimination ) is next to him. Who is John "Maurice" Fagin and who is Warren Harris?
Also, were Saundra and Maurice Fagin related or married? [[Or both? )
