A geography question for our English friends.....

Where is Titfield, England? That would be Titfield as in the Earling Studios 1953 comedy "The Titfield Thunderbolt". Thanks in advance.

That would be EALING Studios. One of my favourites. A lot of great films were made there.

Titfield was a fictional village, as far as I know. The outside shots were filmed near Bath. There is a Titchfield in Hampshire. Google brings up NO "Titfield". I suspect that there is no such place.

    The loco is called 'LION'

According to the following link it is currently at The Manchester Museum of Science and Industry.

One of the locations used in the film was Midford, between Limpley Stoke & Bath...particularly the Pub there, another location was at an old pub on the bath to peasdown st john road on the A367 just by the junction with the B 3115 [[The Titfeild Thunderbolt)

Midford was one of the main locations.

Filming Locations for The Titfield Thunderbolt [[1953)

    There's also dedicated sites:

The locations as mentioned in the IMDB website are just outside Bath. The station at Monkton Coombe is no more - although the entrance gateposts are. Freshford is a time warp - substantially unchanged since the film was made in 1952; there aren't many locations that you could say that about. The route of the track is just about discernable though overgrown.

The night scenes were filmed in daylight using heavy filters.

Woodstock, where the Thunderbolt is driven down the street, certainly hasn't changed much.
