I actually wish that Marvin Gaye and Valerie Simpson would have recorded a legit album of duets. Regardless of how much you think val vocally contributed to "Easy", it's still considered part of the Marvin & Tammi canon. A Marvin and Valerie Simpson duet would have been more Upscale and sophisticated like Roberta Flack and Donny Hathaway and less Cotton candy like Marvin and Tammi. The pairing definitely would have struck old in the mid 70s.

What a nice idea, but this might have meant that we would never have gotten the pairing of Nick & Val. That would have been a travesty.
