    Jack Ely [[The Lingsmen) passes

    I haven't been around much [[serious stroke in Feb.) but I wanted to note somewhere that the lead singer of The Kingsmen, of the garage/party rock classic "Louie, Louie" passed away Monday night in Portland, Ore.

    Along with The Wailer and Paul Revere, Ely's Kinsmen made the ong the official unofficial song of the Pacific Northwest He was 71.
