I knew a red haired girl in Ottawa, Canada who had a racoon as a pet and she used to walk it around on leash. I've also known a guy in Vancouver who had a skunk [[with the scent sack removed) as a pet as well. I was so buzzed out by that skunk that when he came over for a visit with his pet, I asked him to put it in the bathtub.

My former co-worker [[way back when I cleaned supermarkets) had two raccoons as pets...I was sweeping the front sidewalk, I looked up and saw them in his truck and thought they'd gotten in somehow. It was either that or I was hallucinating [[I worked nights on this job and got very little sleep). I found out that he domesticated them, taught them tricks, etc. Sadly, after all that, he re-released them into the wild, which is not a good thing to do if an animal has been domesticated, but this guy never could think very clearly through the haze of pot smoke that he was always in.

BTW, those things scare the piss out of me...ever since I got chased in a park by one as a kid, I've been afraid of 'em...and when you hear the horror stories of raccoons attacking people, that scares me even more!!
