I think those who don't like A Place In The Sun need to be punished by having to sit through "Used To Be", Stevie's truly dreadful collaboration with Charlene that Ron Miller penned for an hour straight.....,
A horrid thought just came to me... Motown wouldn't try to stack the callers to WKNR so that Christine would win, would they? Nah......
TCMS series had some great photos.
One of my favorites is on pg 107, for those who have the set. Tammi & Smokey, and Tammi is wearing the "Irresistible" dress & earrings! Smokey recorded a track with Mary Wells. It would be stupendous if an unknown demo of Smokey leading Tammi through some vocals were to be found in the vaults. Not likely, but one can dream, can't one?
What I won't give to hear a Brenda Holloway version of I'm Losing You...
I LOVE your extended mix of [[I Know) I'm Losing You!!!
The Mandate- tonight's winner of the 'Record A Song With The Temptations" contest. Congratulations!!!
Did The Temptations ever record I've Passed This Way Before? I bet David Ruffin would have done a killer version of this song.
On The Supremes Lost & Found , Disc 2 Track 22, there are snippets of Scott Regan speaking with Christine to tell her that she had won.
Although a sad song, I've Passed This Way Before has always been a JR favorite. Dean and Weatherspoon knew how to do their stuff and did it well. Such a full production. I was souled on Jimmy Ruffin even more after this wonderful release.

"Don't Put Off Till Tomorrow..." is by far the better side. Should have been the A-side.
I'd have to play it [[and I'd rather spend time with you & the gang now)... but I recall that it's only a small portion. That last track on the L&F was a composite from several of Scott's interviews and radio promos with/concerning the Supremes. As the write-up states that "we [[likely Harry , Andy, & George) were given exclusive access to Scott's personal archive of air checks featuring the Supremes". In fact the next line states that they only used portions of Scott contacting Christine Schumacher.
Feel like I've died and gone to Motown heaven! Levi and the Tops!
Does 6x6 remind anyone else of the song Classical Gas by Mason Williams?
For the Original's single, the b-side should have been the a-side.
As good as "Goodnight Irene" is, how could it have been released in preference to "Suspicion"?
Johnny,
In the Lost & Found snippet, part of Christine's take on "I Hear A Symphony" is played for her so that she can hear how her singing voice sounds on the radio.
It kinda makes you wonder what the runner up sounded like...
She did a great job!
Folks.....a pleasure to be back with you and for you.....thanks for a great show....next week....1967!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Have a great week!
Johnny
"I Think I Can Change You" from 1962- shades of [[gasp) "Paper Boy"
