I know it is only January but I can't imagine a better CD than this one coming out this year. A magnificent singer of great class and subtlety, there are numerous tracks of top quality on here. But the most exhilarating cut in some ways, apart from the immortal "Be strong ehough to hold on", is the previously unreleased version of "This old heart of mine". Bettye was smart enough to see the potential in remaking this song and playing up its essential sadness. Her reading destroys the Isleys' version. If anyone misses this CD, they're mad.

I have been waiting for this ever since I got a Japanese Compilation of her Atlantic materials in like 1980. She is a truly great singer!
