    Linda Griner - Envious

One of the oldest Motown songs that I adore. Linda [[aka Lynn Roman) recorded this timeless Smokey song in '62. It's the 'b' side of her lone Motown single 'Goodbye Cruel Love'. I have been informed that there is an entire Smokey written/produced album in the vaults.

I was too young to appreciate this when I first heard it, and thought of it as too MOR. Nearly 50 years later my tastes are wider now.

I wonder if those male background singers are The Love-Tones? They sound like them. They had formerly been The Teardrops on Sampson Records, The Mello-Dees [[on Mickey Stevenson's Stepp Records, House of Beauty Records and Anna Records, and 1962-63 background singers for Mary Wells.

Those many Smokey written and produced cuts on Linda Griner in The Vaults are very nice. I hope they get released soon.
