Totally agree. It would have fit great on "Reflections" or "Love Child."
As far as the "Reflections" album, I think side A is strong. "It's Going All The Way To True Love" would have been a nice...
I was thinking the exact same thing. So easy to see in hindsight. The Happening was on the Greatest Hits Vol. 1 & 2 LP set. Reflections was also supposed to be on it, but Motown opted to give the...
Interesting. I think some of the comments were deleted, but their conductor left a comment that it was the first time in a long time that he enjoyed doing the show and another band member agreed.

Someone on Facebook asked where Susaye was and the FLOS account replied that the event planners wanted the "RTL Supremes" so Lynda agreed to perform.
I love that the ladies are so active lately, both with FLOS and their own individual projects.
I don't know the reason, but I do wish they had kept it in. It certainly would have fit better in the DRATS medley than "My World Is Empty Without You." I love hearing Mary sing the song and wish she...
DMF - Symphony Medley, You Can't Hurry Love - Sullivan
DMC - Forever Came Today - Sullivan
JMC - Medley - Tom Jones
JML - Hits Medley, Tossin' & Turnin' - Dick Cavett
MSC - All I Want - Sonny &...
I couldn't agree more. It's easy to criticize things in hindsight. I really didn't think we'd ever even see this footage, let alone have it be so good. The Supremes certainly never lacked talent.
I thought Susaye was phenomenal when I saw the ladies at Catalina Jazz Club in February 2023. Never missed a lyric and her voice was as strong as ever. I do wish I could have been there to see Lynda...
I'm thinking it would have also been one of their first appearances as an official lineup since Jean was out in May. Maybe that's why there's a freshness to the performance?
I think it was a catch 22 doing the 60s hits. I've heard people say they should have updated the songs, but I've also seen many posts criticizing Jean for straying to far from the original songs. To...
I think they look and sound amazing. Interview shows the tensions in the group, but the performance was excellent. I liked how they slowed down the medley. Jean seems to be enjoying herself. Nice to...
I love "Mr. Misery." Claudette recorded some great songs. I would love to see footage of her performing live with the group. She was an integral part of their sound.
When I saw Mary live in the summer of 2003, she was billed as Mary Wilson & The Supremes.
I love this album too. I wish The Supremes had done an album like it. So much great music from Invictus/Hot Wax. I wish their music was available on Spotify to expose new fans. I have to imagine it's...
That's wonderful! I so wish I could have been there, especially since Lynda was there. I had a great time when I saw them last year, but it's not super convenient to fly from Chicago to LA for a...
This has always been my take as well. I think T.C.B., Join The Temptations, and The Magnificent Seven would have been enough. Maybe G.I.T. since it was also a TV special.
As far as DRATS,...
I was lucky enough to see her perform at an outdoor concert in Lisle, IL during the summer of 2003. She opened the show with "Love Child" and was wearing a red gown with gloves. I remember it was...
Very well said, Roberta!
As for Mary, her voice continued to improve with age, IMO.
I had the best time when I saw them perform there last year. I would gladly go again if I were in the area. The sound quality from their YouTube videos really doesn't do them justice. I also got to...
This is why I love these discussions; we all have our own ideal album in mind. I do agree that Life Beats would have fit well on New Ways.
I always preferred the live version of this song for the fact that Mary and Cindy had their own lines. Jean's vocal on the GH&RC version is also better than what was released in my opinion.
I love the 45 version. I think it would have worked as a follow-up single and given Frank Wilson more time to work on "Everybody's Got The Right To Love," which was probably a better fit for New Ways.
Thanks! Listening to it again, I agree it could be Brenda and Billie. I can hear Mary as well.
