    Favorite album closing song?

What is everyone's favorite closing song on a Supremes or Diana Ross album? Or any of the other Supreme members' solo albums?

Mine is Thank Him for Today on New ways but Love Stays. I like the inspiring message and the arrangment and the quick reprise of Stone Love right at the end. Great way to end a strong album.

Favorite Ross solo album closer? For me, though Brown Baby/Save the Children and Dark Side of the World were very close, I will go with this--sublime:

I actually like three closing songs and they are all of the 1970's Supremes:
Thank Him for Today from NWBLS:

I also loved It's So Hard For Me To Say Goodbye from Touch:
And I felt on High Energy, You're What's Missing In My Life tied up that album perfectly:

Nice discussion idea! It's hard to pick just one, so I will pick three...

You Turn Me Around from The Supremes '75
Ain't That Good News from We Remember Sam Cooke
I Will Survive from Take Me Higher

Agree! Nice discussion. I'd forgotten about Ain't That Good News.

    My favorite:
I'm In Love Again from More Hits

    But there are other favorites:

Ain't That Good News from We Remember Sam Cooke
Can't Shake It Loose from Love Child
Brown Baby/Save The Children from Touch Me In The Morning
    Smile from Diana Ross [[1976)
Come In From The Rain from Baby It's Me
I'm In The World from The Boss

i was gonna mention Girls from Ross 83 lol which made me look over her RCA records and realize how weak her albums ended

    Work that body
    I am me
    Girls
    Forever Young
    Don't give up
    Shockwaves

the last two aren't too bad. but they aren't super strong either

I think Forever Young is a really good closer and strongest of the RCA era album closers.

i just think she sounds so whispy and thin. wish she had sung it like It's My Turn or something. yes i realize it's a softer sound at the opening. it's not as melodramatic of an intro as IMT. but i find her vocals to be weak and even a bit off pitch at times

This is why I don’t like her recorded version. It’s like she is singing a lullaby. The live version is so much better.

Probably 'Give Up' from the 'diana' album. Such an up-tempo song, it makes you just want to flip the record and play the whole thing over again.

Best thing about 'I am Me' as a closing song is that you go 'oh thank gawd, the album's finished'

I always considered you a “Girls” groupie of sorts Mr sup. The song that wakes you from your slumber each morning and soothes your troubled brow.

Agree. A gorgeous slice of soul to close out this classic duets album.

"Ain't That Good News"- perfect closer for this set. I mean, which of the Sam Cooke songs were going to follow that?

"Ask Any Girl"- the "tra la la"s at the end sort of leaves this impression that there's more to come from these girls, and boy was there ever.

"I'm In Love Again"- excellent song. Glad to have the album end on that soulful high note with all the pop fluff on the album.

"The Loving Country"- I think it pulls the album together very nicely.

"Thank Him For Today- I'm not a particular fan of the song, but it was definitely the perfect choice to close out the New Ways album.

"It's So Hard For Me To Say Goodbye"- When has a goodbye song not been the perfect way to end an album?

"All the Befores"- wrapped up the deep, dark love theme of the album perfectly.

"Brown Baby/Save the Children"- like "Good News", I must ask what on the album was going to follow that?

LOL. You have quite a way with words, Ollie.

Ask Any Girl is a great one too. I was also going to add Hope Is An Open Window, but then I thought maybe it's not technically considered to be an album closer, since the album ends with the Until We Meet Again Hex Hector/Love To Infinity remixes? lol

Without doubt “We Stand Together” is my guilty pleasure. I love everything about it, from Diana’s classy vocal to the lyrics and arrangement. The fact so many other fans are less enthused makes me love it even more.

What, no love for Closing Dialogue on Farewell? Don’t make Senator Howard Cannon turn over in his grave….

Seriously though, for solo Diana I gotta 2nd the love for Come In From The Rain. Just beautiful. For the Supremes, He’s All I Got is a fun ending to the Symphony album.

    "Ask Any Girl"

So good that not only did it end "Where Did Our Love Go" but it also began "More Hits By The Supremes".
