Greatest family group [[of any genre)

If you had to choose any of these family musical groups:
    The Mills Brothers
    The Isley Brothers
    The Andrews Sisters
    The Staple Singers
    The Drinkard Singers
    Gladys Knight & The Pips
    The Beach Boys
    The Five Stairsteps
    The Bee Gees
    The Sylvers
    The Emotions
    The Jackson 5
    The Osmonds
    Carpenters
    Zapp & Roger
    The Clark Sisters
    Tavares
    The Pointer Sisters
    The Gap Band
    Sister Sledge
    The Jones Girls
    DeBarge

    -----
Which one will be your pick?

EDIT: Added Tavares and the Gap Band, if there's another legendary family group I've neglected to add, let me know!

Of the ones you have listed I would go with either The Carpenters or The Pointer Sisters. Maybe Tavares would be another option to consider.

A very tough one, but if i have to choose just one it would have to be the Bee Gees for their longivity and versatility.

My wife's pick is The Five Stairsteps and I would go with Tavares. You could add the Cowsills and the Clark Sisters to the list as well. The Carter Family also from C&W music. There are more family groups out there.

Even though they were a little before my main area,
most musicals picks seem to minimize how great the Mills Brothers were.

I'll go with GK&tP though there are lots of great names here.

I’d say the Isley brothers just for their longevity and versatility

They adapted with soul music’s changes and remained relevant and popular decades after their debut

The Drinkards / Drinkard Singers - with Dionne and Dee Dee Warwick, and Cissy Houston, among other excellent singers from their extended family.

    All these were excellent, too:
    The Mills Brothers
    The Isley Brothers
    The Staples Singers
    Gladys Knight & The Pips
    The Beach Boys
    The Five Stairsteps
    Chubby & The Turnpikes/Tavares
    The Jackson Five
    The Chambers Brothers
    The Emotions
    Sly and The Family Stone
    The Sylvers
    The Pointer Sisters

There were also The Scott Brothers - both Chicago group and an East Coast group, The 5 Johnson Brothers[[from Detroit), The Lewis Sisters, The Crampton Sisters,

For total outstanding achievement, most influential and longevity it would be a toss between The Isley Bros and The BeeGees

Hey Boogie Down: Thanks for mentioning our local boys! I work in the same town where they got started and to us they are just "folks" that we see in the grocery store or post office all the time. Are you a local person or just a fan from wherever you may live?

What?? No Partridge Family or Brady Bunch??!

Seriously, though my pick would be the Isley Brother for their multiple genres and longevity.

I forgot Detroit's Hamilton Brothers, Bob[[AKA Rob Reeco), Al[[AKA Al Kent), and Eugene[[AKA Ronnie Savoy), who were 3 of the 5 members of The Nitecaps in 1956 and '57, who recorded for Groove/Vik Records.

And Brenda Holloway and Patrice Holloway were members of The Watesians, along with Pat Hunt [[rumoured to be their cousin, but I seem to remember Brenda admitting Pat was her best friend, so she called her "cousin", but she really wasn't by blood).

Clarence Paul [[Nee Pauling) sang for a short while, with his brother, Lowman, and 2 cousins, in their family Gospel group, before they morphed into The Five Royals.

Betty Winston and her sister Jackie sang together in Detroit's Adorables, together with sisters Pat and Diane Lewis.

2 of The Debonairs also were related, Joyce Vincent, and her cousin, Telma Hopkins.
