For longevity, certainly got to second the naming of The Staple Singers.
I'm going to have to go with the Gap Band because they sing my all-time favorite song: "Outstanding".
Hi David
I am picturing the Statler Brothers all showing up at the post office together LOL.
Everybody knows the Statler Brothers don't they ?? At least some of us here in California, I'm not sure where you are?
[[ and I guess the Statler Brothers aren't really related, just a name ?)
Based on raw talent I'd have to say the Osmonds. All could sing, all could dance, all could play instruments. Quite versatile group.
But my personal preference would be the Pointer Sisters.
The groups have to be 100% family, don't they?
The singin bunny rabbits-hands down!!
Hello to all my soul sisters and brothers after so many time!
If only two members of a group is enough, I think in the "real soul" of the Soul Survivors, brothers Richard and Charles Ingui who are not mentioned before.
Some other family groups [[or some ones that contains brothers and or sisters) that have cut some great soul, funk or fusion tracks:
- Pazant Brothers
- Brothers Johnson
- Maurice and Verdine White from EW&F
- Laws brothers and sisters who separately have had a great influence on fusion and soul-funk, from Eloise and Debra to Hubert and Ronnie
- Valentine Brothers
- The Ridgeways, a sister's trio who are little known for their very good vocals on some Gene Dunlap LP's
- Ingram [[funk-fusion-disco band including Sweetheart Barabara Ingram!)
Can we count the Miracles as Claudette and Bobby were cousins and of course Claudette was married to Smokey and sang on all their records except "Abraham, Martin & John"?
My preference goes to the Emotions, but for me the best "family group" of all times is Sly & The Family Stone with Sly, Rose and Freddy.
The Mac Band

I think the Bee Gee's were one of the very best family groups. They wrote great songs for themselves and others. They also recorded a number of classics.
Just found out that George Chambers passed on October 12th of this year [[2019).
