Audra McDonald, Mary Wilson, and More Star in Our Critics' Weekly Faves

In a theatre article recommending stuff to see this weekend, it also recommends Mary Wilson. Mary is at Cafe Carlyle this weekend and finally singing songs other than Supremes songs.

She will also be on a local channel 11 News Show in a taped segment probably promoting her show. It should be on in a few minutes. Busy morning, so I am recording it.

Many of us here have recommended that Mary drop the Supreme catalogue and do a nice slow jazzy type show. Well, she is finally doing it at Carlyle and getting very nice reviews.

Looking forward to Number One Fan Marv2's review of this show

Just watched the very short interview on the local Channel 11 news. Of course, they had to show some Supremes clips, but they also showed a clip from her show.

Mary looked good and sounded good. She said that she prefers these small intimate rooms.

One of the first places that I saw the Supremes was at the Copa in NYC. By today's standards, that was a small intimate room. Cafe Carlyle reminds me of the Copa .

Interesting. I wonder how Wilson will handle being referred to as 'Diana Ross' smokey voiced background singer' ...

No, but the dog actually nipped him - and you know where!
