    The Real Jimmy Mack

Lamont Dozier got the title for the song "Jimmy Mack" from a ceremony where the recently-departed Ronnie Mack was honored. Ronnie wrote the song "He's So Fine," but died of cancer when the song was at #1.

Ronnie's story isn't often told, but he was a remarkable young songwriter and entrepreneur who put The Chiffons together to record his song.

Here's his story [[and some photos), as told by his sister:

thanks for the link. What a sad story. I think he wrote the flip side also and that record had to sell a couple million copies in the US alone. It was HUGE.

What an amazing story! Very sad that he died at such a young age, and never got to see his song go "gold"..

Nice, heartwarming story. Glad I "clicked" on it.
