    frank wilson rocks

lol - i know, rather inane subject line here but wanted to discuss this topic

Of course I've loved the work Frank did with the 70s Supremes. just great. I just got the cd version of Four Tops Nature Planned it. A much stronger set than Changing Times and almost as wonderful as Still Water.

Got their Soul Spin cd too and it's a good first effort.

Anyone aware of other strong works Frank either did or contributed to? also know he was a driving force for the Clan w Love Child and Shame. didn't he also do a considerable amount of the Temp/Sups duets?

Frank Wilson was sheer magic! Does anyone know if he is still with us and working?

Frank Wilson is absolutely my favourite Motown producer.

Don't forget his work with Brenda Holloway, and Eddie Kendricks.

Brenda Holloway's "Together 'Til the End of Time" was written by Frank Wilson.

Jill, those are classic, especially "It So Hard to Say Goodbye". I remember hearing it first on Chicago radio way back in the day. Thank you.

Don't forget Frank had a big, big career after Motown where, incidentally he wound up as one of their biggest cheeses, production-wise.

Don't forget Lenny Williams, Marilyn McCoo and Billy Davis Jr, and as a founding father of disco [[Down To Love Town).

I love Frank's later [[post Motown) work with Lenny Williams.
They seemed to gell really well & some great tracks resulted from their work together.

Frank also worked with New Birth.
He produced their album -- New Birth [[Featuring Leslie Wilson) - 'Behold The Mighty Army' [[1977).
This wasn't the best album they ever released, BUT it certainly featured some great individual cuts.

Frank Wilson was not given his true due ever - at Motown or otherwise. He was just as good as Norman and Smokey - and HDH - he was not respected as he should have been - his production of the Supremes was remarkable.

I agree! If you removed Frank Wilson's contributions to Pop,Soul/R&B music it would leave a huge gap in not only my collection but in our collective pop culture.
