    No, marv2 but 'good' guess.

I'll leave this up a little bit longer, to see if there is any die hard soul fans who will know, before I reveal the answer.

Since no one was hip enough to get the answer, here it is:
He sang with The Flamingo's. His big solo hit was "Human" ~

I'm from Miami, been in several groups but also solo recorded in Miami & New York. I was an all-around entertainer and musician, other artists would come to see my show. My big record was ripped-off the radio for another's cover who had big connections. My records are huge on the Northen Soul Scene in London.
    Clue: Marriage and Fantasy.
    Name those popular records?

Here's the answer ~ SAMMY AMBROSE

    Clues:
*"This Diamond Ring" ~ 1964 ~ 'Sammy' did the original version, was removed from the radio when Jerry Lewis connections put his son's cover version on the radio.
*"Welcome To Dreamsville" ~ A huge favorite in London.

Let's try again, this one may be a little hard for most to get...

I'm from Detroit, recorded in Chicago, and have had some
"R & B" hits in starting in 1966. My voice is velvety smooth.

Soul Sister thank you so much for this, this info about SAMMY AMBROSE! I never knew he recorded the original version of "This Diamond Ring". I just listened to it on Youtube and he did an excellent job with it. Again, thank you for sharing your knowledge.

You're welcome, marv2. I have a special place in my heart for 'Sammy', we were good friends, and hung out alot together.

Sammy's "original" version is soo much more soulful, better quality in my opinion. Also he was a great "LIVE" stage entertainer, and played many instruments, especially prolific on the drums. I have a Facebook Page on him with more info and personal photo's.

Born in Hendarson, N.C., sang in a gospel group, asked to fill-in for a lead singer of a secular group when the singer became ill while performing at the college I attended where my group also perfomed. I have a big soulful voice yet can sing romantic love songs. I have a couple of well-known cousin's in the music business. Won a Grammy in 1977.

Well Soul-Sister .. knowing how close you were to THE MANHATTANS I wondered if the answer could be GERALD ALSTON .. and looking at the write-up on him at soulwalking I'm now convinced it has to be!!

I was the lead singer in a group at age 13 in the 1950's with another singer who later became a famous producer.
I was married to a member of the Gordy family in the mid 1960's.
I had some fabulous records in mid to late 1960's.
Today I sing lead for a famous group from the 1950's.

Thanks glencro, glad to hear that, we all can learn new things everyday, and yes, that is exciting! You were born in `66, my favorite year of soul music.

Since no one guessed here's the answers:
    It's TIMOTHY WILSON!

1950's lead singer at age 13 for "Tiny Tim and The Hits".
The Producer out of this group and their second group "The Serenaders" was George Kerr.
Married to Raynoma Gordy's sister Alice in 1965.

    3 Fabulous Solo Records 1967 -`68:
    "Baby Baby Please"
    "Say It Again"
    "Queen of Hearts"
Did a great version of "Just Another Guy" [[also recorded by The O'Jays).

In recent years was in and out of "The Teenagers" group as lead singer. What a great voice this man has, so underrated, truly a lost soul artist.

    I'm guessing JOE BATAAN ..

In which case the gang were .. "The Dragons" ..
the name of his wife was .. "Yvonne" and ..
two of his records were "La Botella" [[instrumental version of "The Bottle" around 1975) and "Rap-O-Clap-O" [[early "Rap" tune from 1980) ..I know this for sure as I bought them both when they came out. The only other tune by him that I know for sure was "Young, Gifted and Brown" but I see he also did a version of "Crystal Blue Persuasion" that made the R&B charts.

You had me totally stumped with the previous one S.S. I didn't realise that TIMOTHY WILSON had also done "Just Another Guy" .. what I believe was the first version of that song surfaced a few months back on THE SPINNERS .. "Truly Yours" C.D.

There is a snippet of the version by THE SPINNERS here ..

BTW, Timothy's version of "Just Another Guy" is supurb, it's the B-side of "Queen of Hearts"!
He has some other nice 45's too, like "I Wanna Know Right Now".

Especially since all your previous questions have been about the guys! And that's exactly what I did, get it backwards. Very clever of you. I love Maxine and you're right she still does sound great. She did an album in the late 60's/ early 70's "We'll Cry Together" that remains one of my all-time favorite albums.

In light of recents news, this post is dedicated to the members of this group.
We are from the Chicago area, we are one of the longest touring groups that stayed together.
We had a big hit in the 1950's and a repeat hit in the 60's.
Name the two songs in question?

The 1950's song I had in mind was "Oh What A Night".
