    WNOW YORK, PA ROCK 180 CLUB - Top 50 from 1963 - 50 Years Ago

    Back in the early 1960's, an AM Radio Station in York, PA WNOW had a 3 hour oldies show every Saturday under the auspices of Jim Shannon. They published monthly Top 25 Request Oldies listings and at the end of the first year they published a tabulation from their first year of the Top 50. There are some really terrific songs on the listing. The following is the Top 50 as published.

    Ross - I think the list names the most requested songs on the oldies show in 1963, not that the songs were on the chart in 1963.

    I recognize most of the songs, but not all. My favorites from the list are:

    Nag - The Halos
    Shake A Tail Feather - The Five Du-Tones
    New Orleans - Gary U.S. Bonds
    Two People In The World - Little Anthony & The Imperials
    There's No Other [[Like My Baby) - The Crystals

    It's tells you the power of the old flip sides that Two People In The World would make this list - it never even charted on the Pop or the R&B charts. It was the flip side of Tears On My Pillow in 1958. It did chart locally in some locations but not nationally. Here it is on the ARSA site in San Francisco reaching #18.
